Bio
The Early Years:
Gerald Becker was born and raised in Fresno, CA. where he first attended public schools and later finished a pre-dental program in Chemical Engineering and Biology at California State University. Always interested in human health and welfare, he attended Dental School at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. Gerald graduated with his DDS in 1973 and later this same year received his license to practice Dentistry in both Washington and California.
After graduation, Dr. Becker entered the U.S. Army Dental Corps and completed a one year residency program at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. As a Major in the Army, he was assigned to a dental practice in Wertheim, West Germany. As a result of his excellent service and administrative skills, the U.S. Army awarded Dr. Becker a Medal of Commendation. He also published several journal articles involving dental procedures in Oral Surgery and Oral Pathology.
Celebrating 15 Years In Our Shoreline Office:
In 1978 Dr. Becker and his wife (Valaree Becker, DDS) moved to North Seattle and started their own dental practice. Dr. Becker focused then, as he does now, on Prevention, Restorative Dentistry, and Comprehensive Integrative Care. In 1994 the Becker’s moved their office to Shoreline where they decided to live in this beautiful community.
Dr. Becker’s comprehensive Dental Practice focuses on providing each client with excellent integrative care, state-of-the-art restorative procedures, and the safest, most durable dental materials available.
Dr. Becker focuses on functionality, longevity, and esthetic beauty. In addition to General Dentistry and Comprehensive Integrative Care, Dr. Becker provides the following specialty services:

Continuing Dental Education and Modern Technology:
Dr. Becker’s quest for knowledge and improved dental health care has never stopped. In 1985 he earned an M.B.A. from the University of Puget Sound and, throughout his career, he has completed nearly 3000 hours of post-graduate education in dentistry. Dr. Becker’s yearly Continuing Dental Education hours typically exceed those required by Washington State.
Dr. Becker continues to enhance his dental expertise by actively participating in the “Comprehensive Treatment Seminars Study Club”. This group of highly skilled dentists and specialists come together to discuss the latest developments, treatments, materials, and procedures. Via case study presentations an extensive array of dental conditions are analyzed. Input on the safest materials and most advanced techniques are discussed and multi-disciplinary courses of action are examined.
Commitment and Service To Dental Education:
Dr. Becker’s life long commitment to Holistic Dentistry is best exemplified by his ongoing involvement in dental education. For the past nine years Dr. Becker has served as a Preceptor, Instructor, and Mentor for Naturopathic medical students at Bastyr University. He offers ND students a short-term residency in Oral Medicine. He also serves as a Guest Lecturer wherein he educates students on topics including TMJ/TMD, Bruxism, Cranial Anatomy, Restoration, Reconstruction, and Dental Implants.
During the 1990’s Dr. Becker served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Washington in the Department of Continuing Education. He worked with the renowned Dr. Harry Albers in his Adhesive Dentistry Bonding Program. Prior to this Dr. Becker served as a Supervising Dentist for Dental Hygiene students at Shoreline Community College.
Everyday Life:
The Becker’s (Jerry and Valaree) are active Shoreline residents who enjoy winter sports, bicycling, reading, exercising, and community events. Jerry’s activities also include fly fishing, wood working, rowing, and sailing. Jerry and Valaree have raised two great sons. Both sons reside in Washington State and they have successfully pursued careers in different areas of Advanced Technology. Currently Jerry and Valaree apply their parenting skills to their beloved Cairn terrier, Lily.
